✍️ 400 New Journalism Jobs + Weekly Freelance Pitches, Fellowships and Events Listings — March 4, 2026

Hello and welcome to another edition of Inside The Newsroom, home to more journalism opportunities than any other newsletter in the world.

Hope everybody has had a great start to the new month, one that is probably my favourite in the calendar, and not only because it includes my birthday. I remember each time I celebrate the first truly warm day of the year, stopping in the middle of the street to remember the feeling of not being freezing and realizing that my hibernation is coming to an end. And of course, the first time I hear the crack of a baseball hitting the leather of a catcher's mitt officially signals that winter is over.

For those of us in journalism, this period can often feel like the real start of the new year. The winter doldrums and hollow resolutions that fill the first two months of the year are through with, and give way to a burst of energy with fresh ideas and a renewed sense of optimism and creativity. We're also in a moment in time that our industry is constantly reinventing itself, birthing new platforms, new storytelling techniques, new ways of reaching audiences that seemed impossible just months before.

So what does the beginning of March mean to you, whether seasonal or professional? What is your sound of spring? And how will you channel your refreshed energy?

While you answer those questions, a reminder that our friends at Authory are sponsoring 50 annual subscriptions to Inside The Newsroom. There are currently only 11 left, so do sign up below for your free subscriptions. All you need to do is the following:
