Freelance Board

Inside The Newsroom maintains the largest database of freelance pitch calls and open submission opportunities across journalism, magazines, digital media and audio. If you pitch for a living (or want to), this is where you find editors who are actively looking for ideas.

We track hundreds of live and evergreen pitch calls across beats, formats and pay ranges so you don't have to scroll X, LinkedIn or any other platform for hours.

How We Curate

Every listing is:

  • Verified as a real, current call for pitches
  • Categorized by outlet, beat, format and region
  • Marked as evergreen or time-limited
  • Updated regularly so you’re not pitching to dead calls

We filter out:

  • “Write for exposure” and unpaid content farms
  • AI-content mills and predatory platforms
  • Calls with no realistic path to payment
  • Vague or misleading “opportunities”

The goal is simple: when you sit down to pitch, everything in front of you should be worth your time.

Search & Filter Options

Find exactly what you’re looking for:

  • By outlet: Search by specific publications or networks
  • By beat: Politics, climate, tech, business, culture, international, etc.
  • By format: Feature, essay, Q&A, profile, investigative, audio, video
  • By pay: Filter by known rates or minimum fee (when available)
  • By region: Remote-friendly opportunities (most allow remote work)

Evergreen vs. Time-Limited Calls

  • Evergreen pitch calls are open year-round. These become your “go-to” list of places to pitch when you have a story idea.
  • Time-limited calls are tied to themes, special issues, fellowships or projects with specific deadlines.

We label both clearly so you know what’s urgent and what you can come back to later.
